CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Will the Department of Justice investigate what went wrong on election day in Southwest Florida?
Four In Your Corner's Colleen Hogan is taking voter concerns to the federal government and to state elections officials.
Voter after angry voter waiting in long lines, kept asking Fox 4 crews about the need for a formal investigation into what went wrong at the polls in Lee County Tuesday.
At one polling place, where voters waited until 11:00 p.m. to cast their ballots, someone was handing out papers encouraging voters to contact the Department of Justice and complain about voter suppression.
Wednesday, we're taking those concerns to the DOJ to see what it can do, if anything, to make your next voting experience better. A rep in the office forwarded our questions to a spokesperson. As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, we had not heard back. We will keep you updated as soon as we do.
We also reached out to the Florida Attorney General's office to see if it fielded any complaints about the voting process in Southwest Florida. A spokesperson said they had not.
We called the Florida Department of State and left a message for the spokesperson in the Elections office late in the afternoon Wednesday. We did not immediately hear back.
