Voting underway in Southwest Florida
CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- The polls opened at 7 a.m. across Southwest Florida, and some voters had to brave rain showers while waiting in line.
Umbrellas came in handy Tuesday morning as voters stood in line. Voters at precinct 114 in Cape Coral reported waiting 56 minutes once the polls opened. At precinct 56 in Cape Coral, voters reported the polls opened a few minutes late and the wait time was slightly less than two hours.
Many voters reported waiting between 3 and 4 hours at precinct 28 in Cape Coral.
In other parts of Lee County, morning wait times to vote ranged anywhere from 40 minutes to two hours.
This year's ballot may be contributing to the long wait times. With all of the amendments, the ballot is four pages long.
The polls will remain open until 7 p.m.
