PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- The accused murderer in a Charlotte County cold case is now back in Southwest Florida.

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office reports that David Ray McMannis, 39, of Maryland, was brought back to Charlotte County Sunday morning.

McMannis was taken into custody Oct. 26 in Cumberland, Maryland for the murder of Tara Sidarovich in Oct. of 2001.

McMannis waived extradition back to Charlotte County and was taken to the Charlotte County Jail where he is being held without bond.

The Charlotte County Sheriff said new evidence led investigators to McMannis.  The search is still on for alleged accomplice Phillip Gavin Barr, 43.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Phillip G. Barr, contact Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
