Tropical Storm Patty is weakening in Atlantic
FORT MYERS, Fla. -Tropical Storm Patty is weakening as it drifts in the Atlantic.
The storm's maximum sustained winds decreased early Friday to near 40 mph (65 kph).
Tropical Storm Patty located 230 miles northeast of the Central Bahamas with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph moving south-southwest at 3 mph. On the forecast track, Patty is expected to move slowly to the south-southwest with an increase in speed on Saturday. I
It is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression as it approaches Cuba. At this point, there isn't a significant increase of tropical moisture or rainfall while Patty moves just to the south of the Florida Keys.
The Storm Patrol is tracking a located 30 miles east-southeast of St. Lucia; slow development of this tropical system is possible during the next couple of days. It does have a high chance (70%) of becoming a tropical cyclone; however, it does appear that a cold front coming off the US next week will keep this system in the Atlantic.
