BOKEELIA, Fla. - The U.S. Coast Guard reports it found the body of 88-year-old Robert Hodge this morning in the waters off Bokeelia.
Several law enforcement agencies joined in the search for Hodge this morning after the Bokeelia men failed to return last night from a fishing trip after departing from the Four Winds Marina Tuesday.
Hodges wife contacted the Myers Beach watchstanders at approximately 9:45 p.m., Tuesday, reporting her husband is aboard a 17-foot recreational boat, and he did not arrive before sunset as expected.
Cape Coral's Marine Unit found Hodge’s vessel approximately two miles from his home, floating in the mangroves in about 2-feet of water on the northeast side of Pine Island near Smokehouse Bay. The vessel's keys were in the ignition; however, Hodge was not aboard the vessel.
A body was found this morning shortly after 8:30 a.m. and the Coast Guard identified it as Hodge just after 11:30 a.m.
