NAPLES, Fla. - The South Naples Pirates hosted the first of many fundraisers it hopes will save the season.
"I don't give up easily and I think we can keep these boys playing in the field," said parent Michelle Brock.
A woman by the name of Marie Guerrero, who brought a $2 raffle ticket, won the big prize, which was a 42 inch screen television.
The team sold twelve hundred tickets and brought in $2,400 that will be used to pay for busses to transport the team to away games in Tampa this weekend.
But the team still needs another $2,400 for more transportation to away games the following weekend and to pay for uniforms for both the football players and cheerleaders.
"Hopefully things get better for us...just keep it moving that's the only thing we can try to do right now," said George Williams, a coach with the South Naples Pirates.
The team plans to hold more fundraisers in the coming weeks, including a car wash at Eastside Animal Clinic at 4493 E. Tamiami Trail.
The Collier Co. Sheriff's Office told Fox 4 that they are still investigating the theft and have not yet made an arrest.
