FORT MYERS, Fla. - An urgent call for help tonight from Lee County Animal Services. They're overrun with pets and need your help or the animals might be put down.
The Lee County Domestic Animal Services' shelter says more than the usual number of dogs were brought in over the Labor Day weekend and that's led to a major overcrowding problem.
They tell us the shelter consequently suffers from overcrowding even under the best of circumstances, so this recent influx is not helping.
A minimum of 30 dogs need to be placed to prevent possible euthanization.
That's where you come in. The shelter is offering adoption discounts that can range from 20 to 50 dollars off. They want to get these pets in permanent homes as quickly as possible.
One of the pets that needs a home is this little lady named "hope." she had to have one of her legs removed because if a tumor in it. Animal services say she's had a hard time finding a new home.
