Southwest Florida under Hurricane Warning
MIAMI -- The National Hurricane Center predicts Isaac will quickly strengthen into a hurricane, and it has issued a hurricane warning for much of South Florida including much of Southwest Florida.
The National Hurricane Center says the storm has stayed relatively intact over the islands south of Florida, and is expected to pick up in intensity as it moves back over open water. It is expected to become a Hurricane sometime in the next 48 hours.
The current path of the storm takes it just off the west coast of Florida as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico and toward the Florida panhandle, where it could make landfall on Tuesday.
The hurricane warning has been issued for the Southwest Florida coast, the Florida Keys and parts of South Florida.
