NAPLES- Exciting news is coming from Naples Community Hospital. NCH announced on Thursday it will start working with one of the most recognizable providers of health care in the world.
NCH is pairing up with The Mayo Clinic. Mayo's primary hospital campus is in Rochester, Minnesota. There is also a location in Jacksonville, Florida and Phoenix. Now some of the best doctors in the world will be advising the physicians at the Naples Community Hospital on how to care for you. NCH can tap into the expertise of the Mayo Clinic.
"NCH is still independently and locally owned in Naples, but they are part of our network so patients have ready access to Mayo and the knowledge that comes from Mayo," said Dr. William Rupp, Chief Executive Officer of Mayo Clinic in Florida.
NCH physicians can collaborate with Mayo physicians electronically and discuss a patient's condition and get feedback. NCH can also access Mayo's latest research and treatment recommendations.
"An example might mean a patient with a complex illness and the local physician here can work with a Mayo specialist to provide care and save patient from having to travel," said Rupp.
NCH is the 7th hospital in the country and the first in Florida to have this kind of access.
"It is tremendously exciting. I think this is going to be a game changer for Southwest Florida." said Allen Weiss, President and CEO of NCH Healthcare System.
NCH was selected to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network because the hospital shares a common philosophy, commitment and mission to improve the delivery of health care.
