FORT MYERS, Fla. – The search is on for who stole more than 300 exotic birds out of a woman's home in Fort Myers.
The owner says the exotic parrots were stolen from her home. The birds were snatched from their cages in the middle of the night.
Thieves robbed 69 year old Sandy Kortz of more than 325 rare birds worth an estimated $150,000. Kortz says she was cleaned out of two of her four aviaries very early Tuesday morning.
Kortz is pleading for her parrots back.
“Bring the birds back. Be compassionate and have a heart. Think of them as not just birds, they're people.” Kortz said.
Kortz says she's offering a reward for the parrots, but more than anything, she wants the heartless thieves to return her babies. If you have any information, call crime stoppers AT 1-800-780-TIPS.
