FT. MYERS, Fla. - Drinking beer for a good cause?

Saturday night in downtown Ft. Myers, hundreds of people are sampling draft beers and enjoying live music and it's all for charity.

Four In Your Corner's Colleen Hogan is telling you something good.

"A lot of music, a lot of food, a lot of beer, a lot of fun," Morgan House manager Steven Blasucci said.

Morgan House restaurant hosted the second-ever 'Beer Fest' Saturday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

"We're bringing people downtown during the summer," Blasucci said. "Once season's over we need people to come down here still."

A crowd showed up to oblige.

"No kids!" laughed Ron martinelli. "No kids tonight or dogs. Just getting out with our friends."

A $25-dollar ticket allowed revelers to sample 12 craft beers from different breweries. Proceeds support the 'Visually Impaired Persons of Southwest Florida.'

"It helps a lot of people, it helps a lot of families," Barb Cox said of the organization.

"Not only is the cause a fantastic (cause), it always make you feel good to be a part of something like that," singer Andrea McCain said.

Since 1974, the organization which is located in North Ft. Myers, has helped countless people in three counties.

"We teach people how to navigate through our communities, go to work, go shopping," Visually Impaired Persons of SWFL president Evan Connell said.

The demand for those services has increased at the same time funding is drying up. The reason it's so important to have people pouring in at events like Beer-Fest.

"Our programs and our services are funded by government grants, and every year, those grants are being cut," Connell said.

Morgan House plans on hosting another benefit event in August.
