"Voter purge" supported by Aubuchon, Kreegel
CAPE CORAL - Two southwest Florida Republican lawmakers are throwing their support behind the so-called "voter purge."
State representatives Gary Aubuchon (R-Cape Coral) and Paige Kreegel (R-Punta Gorda), who are both running for Congress, support the voter purge even as the Department of Justice raises questions about its legality.
"Well, we're gonna see how the state responds to the DOJ concerns. We're expecting the responses to come out this week," said Aubuchon, at a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new Cape Coral Jewish community center.
"I think it's important that the integrity of the voter rolls be upheld," said Aubuchon.
"American citizens...registered to vote...don't have problems, much to worry about," said Kreegel, who attended the same event.
"But if you do not have the legal right to be voting," said Kreegel, "you shouldn't be voting."
Kreegel and Aubuchon are among a field of candidates vying for Connie Mack's House seat.
