Baseball player arrested for DUI
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Minor League Baseball player, Cody Kukuk, was arrested on DUI charges Sunday after deputies say he spun his tires making a smoke trail in front of them.
Kukuk, 19, was at a red light on Estero Parkway. When he turned onto Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, deputies say Kukuk spun his tires and screeched down the road, leaving a trail of smoke as he took off.
According to arrest reports, the smell of alcohol wafted from the window when deputies pulled the Mustang over. Deputies say Kukuk's bloodshot watery eyes accompanied by his slurred speech, prompted suspicions of DUI.
Reports said Kukuk's blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit.
Kukuk was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft.
