CREATED May. 16, 2012 - UPDATED: May. 16, 2012

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers man is accused of taking part in the Lee School District check scam.

Confesor Rijo, 27, of the 2900 block of Blount Street, was arrested Wednesday by Lee deputies as part of an ongoing investigation.

Eight suspects have been arrested, all facing charges of uttering forged checks and grand theft.  They are accused of cashing fake checks at Walmart stores throughout Lee County using information from the payroll account of the school district.

According to arrest reports, most of the checks cashed were valued at just under $2000 each.

More arrests are expected.  It is unknown how the account information was breached.
