NAPLES - A Naples woman's trouble with Florida Power and Light is finally over.
"I came home one day... it was on a Wednesday. I'd been out shopping etc. and this pole was in my yard," said Golden Gate Estates resident Bernice Elkin.
FPL installed a light pole on her property back in April, but it was supposed to be installed on her neighbor's home, who ordered the light the illuminate their driveway and garage area.
Elkin called the power company to have the light removed several times, but says she kept getting the runaround.
"They agreed with me and that it was in the wrong place and they would come out and remove it. Well, they never showed up."
She says the company was always courteous about the issue, but simply would not remove the pole and put it in its proper place, so she called 4 In Your Corner for help.
Shortly after Fox 4 first contacted FPL on Monday, Elkin received a phone call from the company promising to fix the problem, which they did.
"We understand the frustration... this should have been handled in a more timely manner, but as soon as we heard about this we contacted the customer and we feel like we came with a pretty good resolution." said FPL spokesperson Neil Nissan.
Less than an hour later, the company sent out two crews to move the light pole from her lawn and to the neighbor's home.
A response that's now put a positive light on what Elkin says was turning into a very dark ordeal.
Elkin's neighbor told me she too called the company and asked them to move it several times, but they did not. She is also happy the company has finally fixed the problem.
