NAPLES-A North Naples neighborhood is dealing with some noisy neighbors.
It's been 2 weeks since homeowners first complained to Fox 4 that homes in the area are being used as weekly vacation rentals.
The county and rental home owner promised to take action and now Four In Your Corner's Julie Salomone is going back for an explanation.
Penny Froh says she speaks for alot of neighbors when she says the party needs to stop.
"What we need to expect in a single family community is some peace and quiet, not a revolving door," said Froh.
She says a 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom house right across the street is still being rented out by the day or week making for some noisy nights.
"Do you think she's still doing daily weekly rentals?"
"Absolutely, I know she is because I'm meeting them," said Froh.
When Fox 4 first aired this story about 2 weeks ago, Code Enforcement told us short-term rentals are not allowed in neighborhoods and would tell the property owner to stop, but 2 weeks later and the problem doesn't appear to be fixed.
"Have you been issued a notice of violation?" I asked the property manager.
"No, I haven't, but code enforcement has been here," said Margaret Bromley.
So why hasn't Code Enforcement issued a violation? The property manager admits to be she is honoring current commitments and allowing people to stay in the home for days or weeks at a time.
"Has code enforcement told you to stop doing these rentals?"
"Unless there was a complaint, they wouldn't have to serve me with a notice while this ordinance is
being reviewed," said Bromley.
So I pushed the county to find out why no action has been taken. A spokesperson would not say much just that this case is being reviewed by the county attorney.
According to a Code Enforcement report, it shows the Code Enforcement has been out to the Palm River Home and states a violation does exist. The ordinance says a home can't be rented out for less than 6 months in a residential zoned area and now it looks like this case is going to the county attorney for verification.
