Two Teens Charged in Murder of Lehigh Mom and Son
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Two teens are in custody facing first degree murder charges for the shootings deaths of a Lehigh Acres mother and her teenage son.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested Justin Wirth, 16, of Lehigh Acres, and Clayton Combs, 17, of North Fort Myers early Saturday morning after a week long investigation by the Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit.
Investigators say the teens drove to the home of Amy Ann Lorah, 43, and her son William "Dalton" Haley, 16, on Sunday, April 8th with the intent to rob and kill Dalton Haley. After arriving at the home, detectives say Wirth shot and killed Haley then went into Lorah's bedroom and shot her. After she staggered to the kitchen, Wirth shot her two more times. Investigators say the teens then stole a safe which contained nearly $370 worth of case and a firearm. Wirth allegedly gave Combs $150 from the safe for his role in the murders and robbery. The 9mm gun taken from the home was later sold for $140.
Wirth and Combs were arrested early Saturday and each charged with two counts of 1st degree (premeditated) murder and one count of home invasion robbery with a firearm. Both will be booked into the Lee County Jail and then turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
Upon learning of the arrests, Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said, "I want to thank the detectives who have been working diligently and tirelessly to solve this senseless crime. While the work continues to bring justice for these crimes and the others of this past week, please know our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers remain with the families of these victims."
