Viewers comment after deputies ticket man posting anti-Sheriff Scott signs illegally
Fred Kobie makes no bones about it. He doesn't like Sheriff Mike Scott.
"I hope this is his last year in office. I hope that he's not re-elected." Fred Kobie says.
The Sheriff thinks Kobie is ridiculous. "He's flat out crazy.”
Deputies say they caught Kobie in broad daylight posting a derogatory sign about the sheriff.
Kobie admits posting it. He was issued a non-moving traffic violation, saying his sign was a dangerous distraction to drivers.
Kobie says that's simply an excuse. "I can imagine if I put a picture of my belly out there that would be ugly enough to crash. But putting up a sign like that is no different than putting up a sign that says there's a garage sale next weekend."
"You're driving down the road and you see some big sign that says 'President Obama did this' or 'Mike Scott did that' and certainly it's something that you don't expect it and so it sticks out even further.
Many of you calling to let us know what you think.
Chris, Cape Coral: “I do believe Mike Scott is picking on the guy. I mean, there are too many signs on the telephone poles just to take his one down.”
Sue, Cape Coral:
“I think Sheriff Scott is doing the right thing taking those signs down. They're a total distraction.”
Shawn, N. Ft. Myers:
“I don't agree with the signs that are posted. I think that's slanderous. I do think that's freedom of speech but I think that's wrong.”
