Disney on Ice skaters share smiles with kids in Fort Myers hospital
Some of the smallest faces at this hospital are fighting the biggest battles.
“Kierra is four years old and she’s awaiting some surgery , we have to have surgery,” Her mother tells FOX 4.
“They gave her some i-v fluids and things like that she came in two days ago with some abdominal problems.” Anthony McElhaney says.
Little Kierra and Janeea aren't the only ones, dozens of children pack the pediatric ward at Health Park Childrens Hospital in Fort Myers, recovering from illness. But today, they can forget all about that.
The stars of Toy Story 3: Disney On Ice are trading their skates for smiles.
Jade Zedron, a skater in the show, says it's one of the greatest rewards for the Disney group.
“I think it's incredible getting to come to hospitals and getting to see smiles on their faces, not everyone can come out to see. It's amazing,” Zedron says.
Jade’s not alone. “It's really special, it's just nice to have something to take your mind off of things while you’re in the hospital, gives you a break.”
Handing out smiles is just what the doctor ordered.
