Charlotte County Sheriff names Officer of the year
PUNTA GORDA---At the fourth quarter awards luncheon Feb. 22 at Portofino’s, Sheriff Bill Cameron announced the 2011 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
Sheriff Cameron said, “DFC Daniel Tricarico was selected for his self-generated performance, initiative to solve crime, and ability to consistently apprehend perpetrators throughout the year. He consistently performed all of his assigned duties without any problems and maintained very good self-generated performance; but he consistently went one step further without being asked or told to do so.
“Anytime he responded to a criminal complaint he took the initiative to investigate it to the fullest extent, building a solid case, and making an arrest. Instead of just taking a report, requesting crime scene and turning the case over to a detective, DFC Tricarico took the initiative on his own to process crime scenes, investigates cases, recover the stolen property and made the arrests.”
