Victim identified in Fort Myers homicide

FORT MYERS, Fla. - New details surrounding a fatal shooting in Fort Myers.

Police identified the victim as 26 year-old Travis Burton of Lehigh Acres. A killer remains on the loose tonight.

Burton’s body was found at a home near Pauldo Street and Edison Ave in Dunbar. Police say they are still looking for the shooter.

The shooting took place close to the area where another shooting happened less than two weeks ago.  One city councilman says the community needs to step up to prevent more violence.

FORT MYERS - Fort Myers Police responded to a shooting happening at 2000 block of Pauldo Street near Dunbar Park in Fort Myers.  The shooting happened just after 7pm.  The search continues for the shooter.

When officers got to the scene, they found one male victim. Officers tried to resusitate the victim, however once EMS arrived the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police used K-9 to look for the suspect. Police are currently interviewing witnesses and holding the crime scene for investigators.
