Lee County schools survey released for public input

FORT MYERS - You will get a chance to voice your opinion on a controversial issue within the Lee County School District.

Surveys sent out today asking parents whether or not the district should stick with school choice or go back to neighborhood schools.

District officials say they want to get a feel for where parents stand on this issue that has been a hot topic for years.

"We're trying to gauge the sentiment of the community,” say Lee Schools spokesperson Joe Donzelli. “It's a feeling, it's an input on what we're doing right and what we're doing wrong. Nobody should make decisions in a vacuum.  You want to gather as much information and as much data as you can so you can make an educated decision."

School choice gives students their pick of schools, but adds long bus rides.  Anyone can take the survey.  You can take it online at www.leecountyvoice.com or pick one up at district headquarters on Metro Parkway in Fort Myers.
