SOUTHWEST FLORIDA-

-Skyline Elementary School students and staff are inviting all veterans and active duty personnel to the school’s Veteran’s Day program. The children will sing patriotic songs and reciting poems for vets. The event starts at 8:30 a.m.

-The Hodges’ University Veterans Club is hosting its fourth annual Veteran’s Day celebration in the Science and Technology building lecture hall at Hodges’ Naples campus beginning at 11 a.m.

The ceremony will pay tribute to all veterans and acknowledge the many sacrifices and accomplishments put forth which have enabled our country to remain strong and vigilant.  The ceremony will feature a presentation of colors from the Collier County Sheriff's Office Color Guard, followed by a speech by guest speaker, Captain Wayne Smith, US Air Force (Ret.).

-The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties is hosting its Annual Veteran’s Day tribute. The ceremony is to begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Shell Factory

-Cape Coral Veteran’s Day Parade starts at 11 a.m. The parade starts at 9th Place and finishing east to southeast 15th Avenue

-Mel's Barber shop in Springs Plaza Bonita Springs is giving free haircuts to all vets for its 7th annual year

-Applebee’s is offering free meals to Veterans and Active Duty military members for its 3rd consecutive year nationwide.

-Salute Our Troops Ball from 6 p.m. to midnight at American Legion Post 38 1857 Jackson Street in Fort Myers (sold out)

-The Fort Myers YMCA is hosting its 14th annual Midpoint Madness 5K run across the bridge. The race starts at 7 p.m. The bridge will be closed from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
