Thanks for clicking on the page to find out more about me! I grew up on the East coast of Florida, in Coral Springs. I remember my first hurricane like it was yesterday. Hurricane David, streets were flooded, my dad got to stay home from work. My sister and I sat in our bubble umbrellas and floated in the flood waters around our neighborhood. Something I would not recommend to children these days!
After attending the University of Florida, I pursued my dream of being a meteorologist. I continued my education at Mississippi State University and hold the seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society. Starting my career, I worked my way through Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina forecasting the weather. Finally, I landed in Southwest Florida in 2000 at ABC 7 holding down the morning show for several years. I joined the FOX 4 team full time in January of 2013.
I have extensive tropical weather experience forecasting hurricanes in both South Carolina and Florida. I was pregnant with my daughter, Madison, while forecasting Hurricane Charley along side Jim Syoen! Madison was born as Hurricane Jeanne was making landfall in Florida.
I did take some time off from TV while my kids were very young. I was active in the construction industry during these years. I had the opportunity to see the affects of weather and forecasting from the other side of the camera. It really helped me broaden my perspective. That experience allows me to help people understand the weather and how to protect your home from the elements. This is the part of the job that brings me tremendous satisfaction!
My love of weather has rubbed off on my two kids. Instead of yelling, “Look mom, a plane” my son Ryan yells, “Look mom, contrail!” They often warn people, “Watch out, cumulonimbus clouds, it’s gonna storm” and remind people that, “You should bring a raincoat, my mom knows, she’s a meteorologist.”
I love to shop, crossfit, roller blade and practice handstands and cartwheels with my kids. Boating is also a family favorite and the kids are becoming terrific knee boarders; loving of the marine life in Southwest Florida. I love being able to enjoy outdoor living year round. You can usually find me at the soccer or baseball field cheering on my kids. If you do see me, please, stop and say Hello!
