The man Red Sox Nation calls Big Papi came within two spots in the standings of becoming the Big Papi of the city of Boston.
NBC Sports says that Red Sox slugger and World Series MVP David Ortiz finished third in the election for Boston mayor, though he didn't run and he was tens of thousands of votes short of Mayor Thomas Menino.
Ortiz was kind of busy during the campaign season, trying to power the Red Sox to a postseason which they eventually took with their third world championship in eight years.
