MSU to Host 'STEM' Conference
The “Making a STATEment: MSU Women in STEM” conference will take place Oct. 17-18 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.
All MSU alumnae, faculty and staff and friends are welcome to attend, not just those working in the science, engineering and technology fields. A limited number of student registrations are also available.
The conference is an opportunity for attendees to connect and engage with others, expand their professional network and acquire tools and knowledge that can assist in furthering their career objectives.
Lisa Marshall, an author and professional development consultant, will give the keynote address Oct. 17. Titled “Women Must Ask (The Smart Way): Tightrope Negotiation,” the keynote will explore gender bias in the workplace, the importance of visibility and sponsorship and practical advice for asking the smart way.
On Oct. 18, the conference program will include presentations and breakout sessions that focus on professional development and leadership including:
• Mentoring Matters
• Marketing Yourself and Transferrable Skills
• Communicating STEM Effectively: It’s All About Connecting
One- and two-day registration options are available.
For conference details and to register, go to womeninstem.msu.edu. The registration deadline is Oct. 1. Bring a friend and receive 20 percent off both registrations.
The conference is hosted by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the College of Natural Science.
