MSU Extension will host online training webinars about early childhood education for child care providers and parents.

The three webinars, known as “Rest Time Refreshers,” will include the following topics:

The ABC’s of Early Literacy: During the critical preschool stage of literacy development, children begin to learn techniques necessary to prepare them for kindergarten. Participants will learn how to help young children become successful readers by third grade. This session takes place Nov. 25.

Registration can be completed here.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know: Caregivers will learn how to encourage children who are curious, excited, interested in exploring and eager to try new things through hands-on activities specifically for this age group. Parents and child care providers will get a better understanding of how to develop problem solvers, critical thinkers and communicators of life skills. This session takes place Dec. 4. Registration can be completed here.

Setting the Stage: Promoting Social Emotional Health in Young Children: This workshop will discuss the crucial social-emotional skills children need for healthy development and school success. It will explore children’s literature that can assist in teaching these skills. This session takes place Dec. 12.

Registration can be completed here.

Each hour-long webinar starts at 1 p.m. All sessions will last 45 minutes leaving 15 minutes for a question-and-answer period. The cost for each workshop is $5.
