Great Lakes Folk Festival Returns to Downtown East Lansing

CREATED Jul. 30, 2013

The MSU Museum's Great Lakes Folk Festival is set for Aug. 9-11 in downtown East Lansing.

The award-winning festival, produced by the MSU Museum's Michigan Traditional Arts Program, is a celebration of culture, tradition and community.

GLFF offers a one-of-a-kind mix of music and dance stages, demonstrations of traditional arts and storytelling, authentic ethnic food, an arts marketplace and many special activities for everyone.

The event will feature a variety of programs including “Campus and Community” and “Best of the Midwest.”

“Campus and Community” consists of presentations about the ways universities turn education into action. “Best of the Midwest” features music, dance and traditional artists from Midwestern states.

Musical artists perform two to four times throughout the weekend. The 2013 lineup consists of music and dance programs in genres like bluegrass, polka, blues and more.
