EAST LANSING, Mich. ― Revolutionary dance-illusionist company MOMIX defies categorization as it transports audiences to a different world in its endless search for another gravity. MOMIX: Botanica will be performed on the Cobb Great Hall Stage on March 17, 2013 at 3:00 PM. Tickets range from $25.00 to $45.00, with student tickets only $15, and are available online at whartoncenter.com, at the Auto-Owners Box Office or by calling 1-800-WHARTON.
Mesmerizing, magical and imaginative, MOMIX’s newest creation, Botanica, has performed to packed houses and rave reviews around the world. With a score ranging from birdsong to Vivaldi, Botanica uses larger-than-life props, the interplay between light and shadow, humor and the human body to create a breathtaking show of fantasy, wit and captivating beauty. “Their audience floats out on a dizzying high of pleasure,” says the Chicago Tribune.
Known internationally for presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Moses Pendleton. In addition to stage performances world-wide, MOMIX has worked in film and television, recently appearing in a national commercial for Hanes underwear as well as a Target advertisement that aired during the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. MOMIX: Botanica is dance at its most organic; the seasons will never be the same.
There will be a Preview Lecture at this performance. This free, half-hour discussion will be held 45 minutes prior to the performance. Previews for the Cobb Great Hall are located in the Stoddard Grand Tier lounge on the third floor of the Wharton Center.
