More I-96 Patrols for Saturday's MSU Football Game

CREATED Nov. 2, 2012

Lieutenant Vern Elliott of the Ingham County Sheriff's Department is working longer hours, contributing to the task force on the hunt for the man suspected of firing bullets at 24 cars.

He can't count how many cars he's pulled over matching the four-door, dark color description, hoping he would find one of Michigan's most wanted.

"Right now, the difficulty is we don't have a very good description of the vehicle or the person."

While investigators trace clues and try to find patterns to give them a better idea of what they're looking for, leaders in the task force are making sure drivers feel safe in high traffic situations, which is why they've come up with a plan for Saturday's MSU football game.

"You're gonna see one (police car) probably in the general area of every turn-around on the freeway, and then a regular patrol on top of that," said Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth.

"We are deploying additional state police patrol cars, marked patrol cars to the area too," said Lt. Kyle Bowman of the Michigan State Police, and that will include Lt. Elliott, saying if the shooter is in the area this weekend, he will not get away again.
