UPDATE: Police Identify Suspect in MSU Student Assault
FOX 47 News
A suspect has been identified in an assault against an MSU Student.
East Lansing police say the suspect is an 18-year-old Farmington Hills man. No other details about the suspect will be released until police finish their investigation.
19-year-old Zachary Tennen says he was assaulted by two people at a party at a home on Spartan Avenue early Sunday morning. Tennen claims the attack was because he was Jewish.
Police say the motive does not appear to be based on Tennen's religion, according to witness accounts. Witnesses and Tennen state that after the assault there was a small piece of metal in the victim's mouth. It's unknown how it got there.
"This assault, as with any other assault, will be investigated fully to hold any and all suspects accountable," said ELPD Capt. Jeff Murphy. "This is a serious assault and ELPD is putting every resource available into the investigation."
While many witnesses have been located and interviewed, ELPD believes there are other witnesses that have not been located. They are encouraged to contact ELPD at 1-877-ELPD-TIP.
Once the investigation is complete all evidence will be turned over to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office for review.
