Lansing Stars in "Pure Michigan" Campaign

By FOX 47 News. CREATED Aug 24, 2012

The three minutes and 30 seconds of "Good Time" by Owl City, featuring Carly Rae Jepsen, is being split 50 different ways for 50 Michigan cities; Lansing gets a big part of the chorus.

"Each city has its own unique scene, so Lansing's scene is being shot here at the Capitol with folks representing MSU," said Coordinator of the Lansing visit, Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau's Tracy Padot.

"We're just trying to show everyone what Michigan has to offer. Something that would be of interest to everyone who wants to live, work, or visit Michigan," added Rob Bliss, Creator and Director of the new "Pure Michigan" tourism campaign.

Bliss came up with the idea after a similar lip-dub video he made about his hometown of Grand Rapids which you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPjjZCO67WI

It's gone viral with over 5 million hits. Now that Bliss is encompassing all of Michigan, he's hoping for many more.

"It's about having a good time, which of course, makes sense for tourism, but secondly, Carly Rae Jepson, her song "Call Me Maybe" was a big viral Internet video ... so all of her songs afterward have a very good chance of having the same reception," continued Bliss.

Lansing's part is only four seconds long, but it will be four seconds of fame to millions watching when the video is posted on-line.

The video will be finished and up on www.michigan.org by September 9, at the latest.
