Rain Forces Lugnuts to Cancel Game, Possibly Opening Weekend

Thursday's Crosstown Showdown Lansing Lugnuts and the Spartan Baseball Team has been postponed a few weeks, and they may have to push back opening weekend as well. Field crews are trying hard to keep the stadium in playable condition. It was supposed to be the site of a big game, but now it' just the site of areally big tarp, "We felt that trying to play this game tonight would have been a horrible experience for the fans a well as pretty much just unsafe for Michigan State and the Lugnuts.
The team is disappointed, but they are no stranger to strange weather. "April is always a tough month in Michigan, and unfortunately in the sport of baseball we have to deal with the weather outside." But spring means baseball, and the league opener is scheduled for tomorrow.
The team is optimistic that they'll be able to hit the field soon. Nick Grueser, GM of the Lansing Lugnuts "The field, considering the amount of rain we've taken, is actually in pretty good shape, probably couldn't play tonight but hopefully it holds off a little bit and we can play tomorrow.
Grounds crews have being doing a fabulous job." Grounds crews plan to work throughout the night and into tomorrow. And the team says that there will be plenty of games played, rain or shine. Saturday's game is set for 7:05pm and it's freebie Friday which means you get two for one deals on food. By the way, this isn't the first time weather has threatened the home opener. In 2007, the first games were postponed because of snow.
