West Lansing Applebee's Celebrates Grand Re-Opening

By FOX 47 News . CREATED Mar 3, 2014

Lansing, Mich. -- The Applebee’s restaurant in West Lansing is celebrating a grand re-opening at 11:00AM and fundraising event, from 11:00AM to 2:00PM, on Tuesday, March 4 to support local children and volunteer projects through Todd “T.J.” Duckett’s non-profit organization, New World Flood. The restaurant, located at 5400 W. Saginaw Highway, recently underwent major renovations and changes under new ownership of the Livonia-based Team Schostak Family Restaurants.

Tuesday’s donation to New World Flood marks nearly $50,000 raised by Applebee’s grand re-openings for Michigan-based non-profit organizations throughout the state.

“New World Flood is currently in development of a volunteer center, the heartbeat of our physical space,” says Bill Morris of New World Flood. “Our volunteers, which we call raindrops, require a sense of place to increase the impact of our work on projects like: The Battlefield Brawl, the Jacqueline Barham Challenge, and Lunch With a Purpose. It’s because of the support from businesses like Applebee’s that we will be able to equip our centers with technology and other resources so our raindrops who frequent our space can have greater and ongoing community impact.”

The public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting event and check presentation ceremony at 11 a.m. and encouraged to give back by enjoying lunch between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on March 4 when 20 percent of sales will also be donated to New World Flood. A total of 65 Applebee’s throughout the state have been undergoing renovations. Upgrades include exterior and interior design, new Michigan beer taps and hometown wall murals.
