Three men arrested Friday by police are all facing felony charges for their role in a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
Shelton Darnell Coats, 22, Dionel Deangelo White-Beard, 17, and Demetrius Raymont Roberts, all of Lansing, were arraigned in 54-A district court Sunday afternoon.
Coats faces three weapons charges including carrying concealed and possession by a felon. He also is charged with assault with intent to murder and a habitual offender notice for his second offense. His bond is set at $500,000.
White-Beard faces two counts of assault with intent to murder, a felony firearm charge, carrying concealed and fleeing police. His bond is set at $250,000.
Roberts faces one count of assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer, also a felony. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.
Police think the men are connected to incidents that turned miles of Miller Rd. into a crime scene Friday evening. Police first received reports of two cars shooting at each other around 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. Minutes later, police found a man with a gunshot wound at a car wash 2.5 miles away, near Cedar and Miller.
LPD detectives were already in the area investigating another violent crime when they saw one of the suspects trying to flee the scene in a vehicle. As the detectives followed, the driver of the vehicle fired multiple shots at the detectives.
A short chase ensued before police tracked down the vehicle on the 2000 block of Georgetown where the accused subjects took off running. Police quickly took them into custody.
Another suspect was apprehended with the help of a canine unit.
The victim was taken to Sparrow Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
