The American Red Cross is opening emergency shelters in Jackson and other places to help people affected by Sunday's storms.

Yesterday the Red Cross Central and Northern Michigan Region assisted 13 individuals overnight in shelters due to the power outages following the severe weather on Sunday.

Several people have also taken advantage of the Warming Stations as a safe space to figure out next steps. The Red Cross continues to operate Emergency Warming Stations and Shelters in these following locations:

Those seeking shelter are encouraged to bring the following items if possible: prescription medications; appropriate bedding, blankets, and pillows; personal hygiene items; a change of clothes; and any necessary items for infants or the elderly.
