New Parking Changes at Lansing Community College
FOX 47 News
Students at Lansing Community College will have to get used to a new parking system this fall.
Instead of using their star card to pay for parking, the school is using a new Pay-by-Space multi-meter system. It works like this---you park, look at the number and head over to a kiosk to pay for that specific space.
The machine will take cash and credit cards and while it might seem a little confusing at first, it will make things a lot easier.
"The city of Lansing is using the technology just a few blocks from here", says Eric Glohr, Director of Auxiliary Services for LCC. "So the technology isn't new, just new to LCC, but after a few weeks, people will become familiar with it and it will provide a better parking experience for students."
Parking will be free in the Gannon ramp until the system goes live in mid-to-late September. Students will also be able to extend their parking time through an app on their smartphone.
