Mr. Friday Joins FOX Family
When Friday rolls around, it has everyone saying 'TGIF!' Here at FOX 47 every day is TGIF when you have Terrance Friday around. Mr. Friday will make his Lansing debut this Wednesday, July 17th.
But before he gets behind the desk, in front of the lights, and the cameras start to roll, we had a chance to sit down with Terrance and get the inside scoop on his personal life.
At a young age, Mr. Friday discovered his passion for reporting. "In the 4th grade, we had to do a current events project each week. As an only child, I was always really shy by nature, but for some reason when I did current events it really excited me, and I liked it. My teacher recommended that I be a reporter, and I decided I would be, so I just followed it."
Following his dreams, Terrance says that his faith is what inspires him most and is what keeps him going. "I'm also really inspired by people that I come across everday. I enjoy getting to inform people and letting them know what is going on. I like communicating and having the chance to meet someone new everyday."
A favorite career moment for him was when he had the chance to meet with Good Morning America Anchor Robin Roberts. The time that he was able to spend with Ms. Roberts inspired him a tremendous amount. With the many stories that Terrance has covered, his most memorable career moment was hard to choose because so much of what he does is meaningful. "If I had to choose, I would have to say Hurricane Isaac because I wasn't prepared for it."
Another thing he was not prepared for was making the big move back to his Midwest roots, but he could not be more excited to be coming back. Moving from Mississippi, originally from Minnesota, and now in Lansing, Michigan, he says, "The South was great, but I am thrilled to be back!"
But, you won't see Mr. Friday running out to grab a cone of ice cream in this Midwest heat wave, because ice cream isn't his flavor. "I'm a Frappuccino guy--I love Starbucks."
Some other quirky facts that you may want to know about Terrance are that his favorite color is blue, and if given a choice of a superpower, he would choose to be invisible. His top two movie favorites are 'Finding Nemo' and 'Kill Bill.'
You'll be interested to know that one of Terrance's hidden talents is that he can speak 'whale,' perhaps the reason he enjoys the 'fishy-tale' of little Nemo.
At FOX 47 we are thrilled to have Terrance join the FOX family.
