MSU Engages Leading Architectural and Design Firms for Spartan Village Redevelopment
FOX 47 News
Michigan State University’s Residential and Hospitality Services is pleased to announce that they have selected an architectural and engineering firm as a partner for the redevelopment of the aging Spartan Village apartments. SHW Group and Encore Architects together as a team will lead the feasibility study and site evaluation for the project.
This architectural and design team is uniquely qualified to fulfill this role – SHW Group is one of the leading architectural, engineering, and planning firms in the nation, consistently ranked by Engineering News Record in the top five firms in the higher education market. SHW has extensive experience on campus, successfully completing the renovations of Bailey, Rather, Armstrong and Bryan Halls in the Brody Neighborhood. Encore has designed mixed-use, multi-family and student housing for decades and carries a strong national reputation in this market. Their combination of national and local experience will allow MSU to succeed on our world-class mission.
This project, which was authorized to plan by the MSU Board of Trustees in October of 2013, will enhance the academic and cultural experience of MSU student families while serving as a valuable recruiting tool that can attract the best and the brightest to study in East Lansing. As with all of MSU’s projects, an open process and community engagement is a cornerstone of the project’s goals.
