A jury has convicted Eric Knysz of first-degree murder in the death of State Trooper Paul Butterfield.
The jury deliberated for about two hours Tuesday, after Knysz chose not to make any kind of defense.
He was convicted of shooting Butterfield during a traffic stop in Mason County last September.
His wife testified that he was afraid of getting caught with stolen guns in the car. She pleaded guilty to helping him escape, and is currently serving a two-to-five year sentence.
Eric Knysz will spend the rest of his life in prison.
