An expert mechanic was able to cap the leak, and the truck was moved to the Air-Gas Company facility in Delta Township, where the remaining liquid nitrogen was off-loaded.
The Delta Township Fire Department chief estimates 750 - 1000 gallons leaked. There was no damage to the environment or road surface.
Liquid nitrogen is not flammable, but the chief says the concern was that the venting chemical could present a visual problem for drivers, and if cars came too close there could be respiratory problems.
