Amtrak Train Strikes Car in Jackson County

LEONI TOWNSHIP - An passenger train struck a car left on a railroad cross in Leoni Township. The driver of the car is arrested, accused of drunk driving.
The collision happened at about 9:30 P.M. Tuesday night along Page Avenue near 9th Street. Blackman-Leoni Public Safety say that the driver, a 35-year-old Summit Township woman, told them her car had stalled on the tracks. She exited the car. The Amtrak passenger train struck Honda Civic. No one on the train was hurt. There was some damage to the train, but it did not have to be removed from the tracks. PolIce say they left the scene at about 11:30 P.M.
The driver of the car was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Police say she had a blood alcohol content of 0.20%, more than twice the legal limit.
