Vote Allows Michigan Flyer to Accept Federal Grant
The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission is going to allow the Michigan Flyer to accept a $595,000 grant. The money will allow it to add four more runs from East Lansing to Ann Arbor to Detroit Metro Airport.
The issue first came up for a vote in May.
It was a nine-nine tie, which meant the company couldn't take the money. The commission member who missed the original vote was there Wednesday night and voted "yes".
Opponents argue it's a bad idea to use tax dollars to take business away from Capital Region International Airport.
