Visiting The Capital Area Humane Society: 'My Rescued Pet'
Here at FOX 47 we are celebrating your pets for the month of June, and this week we are featuring your 'Rescued Pets.'
The Capital Area Humane Society in Lansing was kind enough to let us in before hours to get some exclusive video footage and photos.
"Our mission is to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through education, adoption, placement and example. We run adoption programs. We have education programs and we have lots of children's summer camps coming up for all age groups," said Holly Lawrence, CAHS Director of Operations.
Since its founding in 1936, CAHS has grown tremendously due to the support and passion of mid-Michigan community members. More than 1,300 active volunteers devote over 16,000 hours of time each year to help the animals be socialized, exercised and feel loved. With more than 10,000 animals coming through the doors each year, this support is crucial. Each animal is provided with food, medical care, a safe haven and plenty of TLC from the staff and volunteers.
Show your support for pets this Saturday, June 15th as CAHS hosts the 3rd Annual Pubbin' 4 Pets Pub Crawl! Join fellow animal lovers for this pub crawl to help raise money to end pet over-population. The event begins at Edmund's Pastime at 4:00 p.m. All of the establishments participating will be offering drink specials and other fun activities for all the Pubbin' 4 Pets participants. CAHS asks that all participants please drink responsibly and be safe as they enjoy the pub crawl in support of the animals. Register for the event and get all the information here.
