Janene McIntyre Named New Lansing City Attorney

Janene McIntyre was named today as Lansing's City Attorney. The Lansing Eastern High School graduate comes to the City Attorney's office after an extensive career with the state of Michigan, followed by a private legal practice.
A graduate of Northwood University in Midland, McIntyre began her career working for the Michigan Department of Treasury's Michigan Municipal Bond Authority in 1995. In 2000, she moved to the Michigan Department of Human Services' Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Programs where she developed hiring practices to ensure equal opportunity hiring and promotion. In 2005, she began working as a legislative assistant for former State House Rep. Michael Murphy, who represented the 68th District, which includes Lansing.
McIntyre is a 2006 graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
She is currently a member of the municipal and public finance practice groups at Foster Swift Collins & Smith in Lansing.
In a statement released today, McIntyre said "I intend to provide common sense and creative solutions to legal matters in the city, maintaining its integrity and upholding its accountability to is residents."
McIntyre replaces Brig Smith who resigned earlier this year to take a similar positions in Connecticut.
