A nurse is suing a hospital in Flint over discrimation allegations.
Tonya Battle is a black nurse at Hurley Children's Hospital. She says the father of a baby left a note requesting no black nurses to take care of the child.
The hospital reportedly told the man he wouldn't get his wish, but Battle's attorney says the man's baby was still reassigned to a different nurse.
"Even though they claimed they weren't going to continue to follow that, they weren't going to discriminate, they continued to de facto discriminate against my client and the next African American nurses, when for about the next month they never assigned any African American nurses to care for that child," said attorney Julie Jafkay.
The Hurley president says the father showed Battle's supervisor a swastika tattoo, which angered the staff. She said supervisors were concerned for the staff's safety.
