The MIchigan Department of Education has released the scores for the fall 2012 MEAP tests.
Many local districts saw little change in the proficiency levels for the upper grades.
Statewide, students saw increases in reading, especially in reading in grades 3 and 8.
Governor Snyder praised the districts in a statement, but added that "much work remains and achieving further gains will demand our continued commitment."
The results of the state's MEAP test will be released today.
Scores for the annual standardized test will give school an accurate measure of progress. This is the second year that tougher standards for the test have been put in place.
MEAP scores help determine if schools meet federal requirements, and can cost schools if they consistently fail to meet them
