For the first time in 50 years, you can fish in the Red Cedar River on the MSU campus.
It comes after the State DNR amended a local ordinance Tuesday. Hook-and-line fishing will be allowed on the north bank, between the west end of the Brody complex and Sparty Bridge.
Fishing had been banned at MSU since the 60s, because the campus is considered a preserve. There were also safety concerns with all the pedestrian traffic.
