Governor Snyder has signed a bill into law, banning young teen drivers from using their cell phones behind the wheel. It's called 'Kelsey's Law' named after a Sault Saint Marie teenager who was killed in a cellphone related crash a couple of years ago.
Her mother says it's been a long journey to turn this bill into law---but well worth it. "I know Kelsey is up in heaven...just clapping and screaming for joy over this because of the lives that can be saved through the tragic death of hers.
Teens who break the law will be issued a civil infraction. There aren't any points for that, and drivers will not be punished for using cell phones to report an emergency.
