Gunman Beats Two in Early Morning Robbery
LANSING - Two men are assaulted and robbed by a gunman in Lansing, while stopping at a convenience store. Lansing police were told that at about 3:30AM Monday the men drove into the parking lot of Buddies mini-mart in the 800 block of South Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
The driver went inside. It was then the passenger was approached by a man who pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The passenger handed over a small amount of cash. The victim tells police that the gunman, unsatisfied, began beating the passenger with the handgun, asking him what else he had.
The thief took the victim's cell phone as well.
Meanwhile, the car's driver came out of the mini-mart. He too was accosted by the gunman. He was told to give up his money, and was also struck in the head several times with the gun.
The gunman fled on foot.
Police say the injuries to the two men are minor.
The thief is described as a 20 to 30 year old black male, 5'10" tall, medium build with long hair pulled back in a wide pony tail. He was wearing a red hat with a white "C" in the center, green or dark colored parka coat with fur around the hood and dark baggie jeans. The weapon was described as a black semi-automatic.
